Julie Pierce’s first taste of local government came through her involvement in a homeowners association. She appeared before the Clayton City Council so often with concerns about her subdivision that she was recruited for the Planning Commission. That led to a run for council, where she’s served since 1992.

Amy Worth’s launch pad was a position on the county library commission. That’s how she met Orinda city leaders. They liked her so much they urged her to run for council. She’s entering her eighteenth year.
